I am so grateful now that.......

“Everyone sit down and in front of you is a notebook. Put your name on the notebook and write the following on the top of the front cover …. “I am so grateful now that…..” and on the bottom part write “Attitude of gratitude…..think about it, thank about it.”  Those were the instructions from Brook Ingraham in my men’s group as we were about to embark on one of the most powerful exercises on gratitude that I have ever done.  I was focused and ready to experience gratitude in a way I never had before.  Brook told us “Just start writing… ‘I am so grateful now that....’ and then fill in the blank with what you were grateful for.”  Quiet overtook the room as I entered a part of gratitude that was new, strange, and powerful.

That was over three years ago and that piece has stuck with me.  Not only did I write many gratitude pieces that night, I took the book home with me and continued to write for weeks. Even though I was aware of the Law of Attraction, I never truly understood that if I kept my focus on what I was grateful for I had more joy, I had more things come into my life that I could be grateful for, and most of all I was able to see the blessings I have received over all these years and how blessed I really was.  This simple yet powerful concept changed my life forever.

So tomorrow is Thanksgiving and with all that has happened in my life in the last few years I want to share some of the things I am grateful for. I am so grateful now for my beautiful, loving, and special daughters, my brothers, my father, and my creative, authentic, and deep love with my soulmate, Marie-Pierre, I am so grateful now that I was blessed with the most loving, special mother that love, nurtured, and believed in me my whole life, I am so grateful now that I have so many people in my life that love me and nurture me daily and that I have found what love and light is in my life, I am so grateful now that I create music and that my music touches people’s hearts and souls and that God gave me the gift to use that music and sound for healing, and most of all I am grateful now that I am the direct, beautiful, loving reflection of God’s love and light and that every day I help create hope in this world by loving myself and others unconditionally.

I invite you to find time today to be aware of what you are grateful for and to share that gratitude with all the people that you love. I have learned recently how fragile life is and that tomorrow is a dangerous assumption.  Happy Thanksgiving  to all, and special thanks to my earth angel Brook.

You voice such truth, Stan; it's a timely reminder to me to state a clear context around gratitude. Even at heavy-hearted periods of my life, I can see how every situation provides a gratitude opportunity. In our home at dinner time we take turns to share the best three things from the day. My two teenage sons have practiced this their whole lives and often start the process. The search for the good in everything and the good in everyone is my life's work so thankyou Stan!
