Biography of William Stanhope Cutherell:

I have two passions in life.... people and music. As a Life Coach, an accomplished musician, and a creative soul, my mission is to inspire men to achieve a life of joy, hope and connection.  There is no mistake that my name is Stanhope......with Stan meaning the “rock”, I am the Rock of Hope.  I constantly explore the connection between music, creativity, and change and see HOPE as Having Opportunities Present Everywhere.   I believe that we all have our own inner wisdom and powerful brilliance.  We are all searching for our purpose in life and it is through our journey of self discovery that we uncover our gold.

I had the fortune to study under and learn from an assortment of teachers, mentors, artists, musicians, and highly creative souls. One of which was artist, classical guitarist, and world renowned violinist Maestro David Baquero, himself a student of the classical guitarist Andres Segovia. What started out as classical guitar lessons turned into a rare life changing study of the life of a world class musician.  I also worked with author and innovator Rolf Smith, founder of The School of Innovators and the Virtual Thinking Expeditions, and attended the Creative Problem Solving Institute of New York, assisting in conducting workshops in the field of creative expression with Texaco, US Navy, Houston ISD and Halliburton Brown & Root. I have also had the privilege to study men’s coaching and growth work with Stan Goss, Bob Beare, John Gaughn, and Shadow Work with its founder Cliff Barry.  I have also had the pleasure of studying Sound Healing with world renown sound expert Jonathan Goldman and learned how sound and music are the core of who we are and how we live our lives.  I also got to study under world class drum facilitator Arthur Hull and learned about drumming and it’s metaphorical similarities to our rhythms and vibrations.  A common theme of music, change, people, and the journey for self discovery is present in all my teachers.

My current musical passion is that I am the co-founder, songwriter, and guitarist for the band The Rafters and have co-produced and written the music for three (3) CDs of our original material. We are currently working on our fourth. Prior to playing with The Rafters I produced two (2) CDs with the band Railroad Gin for whom I was guitarist and song writer for ten years. I have worked with musicians such as Jake Dalton, Krissi Minten, and others to help organize, produce, and/or co-write their original music.  Bands are like restaurants.....most close after one year and they deal with creative individuals that are known to have trouble collaborating. My bands and the bands and artists that I have worked with, have stayed together longer and been successful in creating a collaborative creative environment.

I am comfortable coaching all types of men ranging from managers in a large electrical contracting corporation to musicians and artists and have worked extensively with the facilitation of their growth work. I create a deep level of connection so men can move through change and fear, understand and embrace their purpose, and to embrace their inner wisdom and personal power as human beings.

I am an active member of The Mankind Project and actively staff the New Warriors Training Adventures, a program that empowers men to achieve their full potential by living in integrity.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Texas Christian University and have completed 30 hours of Graduate Courses in Educational Psychology at the University of Houston. I am also a certified Birkman Consultant and Myers-Briggs Personality Inventory Consultant.

Apart from my interests in music, creativity and change, I am an accomplished businessman and entrepreneur. I am an active Licensed Real Estate Broker and have more than 25 years of experience in real estate, both commercial and residential. From 1989 to 1998, I owned and operated Vetmart, one of the first chains of retail animal pharmacies in the state of Texas.

I am the father of two incredibly beautiful daughters who teach me every day about love, faith and hope. In my free time, I practice yoga, meditation/breathing,  write and love doing art projects with my beautiful and talented girlfriend, Marie-Pierre. I am a lifelong student of human behavior and best describe myself with this quote from Picasso: “I am always doing that which I cannot do in order to learn how to do it.”
